Did you know that burglaries happen every day. Okay, you knew that, then lets be a little more specific. The FBI has reported that a burglary occurs every 15 seconds. That only about 13 percent of burglaries are ever cleared, and in rare cases is the burglar caught in the act. A home without security systems are 2 to 3 times more likely to be robbed. 90 percent of police believe that home monitored alarms deter thieves. Over 62 percent of the burglaries that happen happen during the day.

So, your shocked, and probably also frustrated. So what was my point, just to prove the world is even worse than you thought? No not at all. My point is, we have a need, a need to protect ourselves because though I am an advocate for trusting people in this world, I am not an advocate for trusting everyone in this world. Every home has valuables in it. Even if you think you don't, you do. The minute someone burglarizes you, you will feel taken advantage of. You will be miserable, because the most valuable thing we have is the knowledge that we have a safe place in this dangerous world.

So what can you do to make your home a safe place. There are quite a few things you can do. And there's some great options for you to keep the valuables inside your house safe as well. Start outside the house. Make sure that the hedges are trimmed beneath the window so you can see out the window. Make sure your door has a peep hole in it that will clearly let you see the person on the other side of the door. Never leave your door unlocked, and make sure that your windows all have locks that actually lock them shut.

Now here's where burglary really comes into play though. Do you have a collection of some kind? Even if your family members don't see any reason it should be considered valuable and you are the only person that does treasure its presence. The minute you lock it up, it becomes valuable. It will become the main target of your burglar. So you better make sure that it is safe. One of the best ways to do this- get a wall safe.

Wall safes are generally permanently mounted on your wall, or in your wall. Because of the nature of a wall safe, if you are having it installed during construction of your home, it will be easiest for you. But if you want to mount it later, it can be done. Wall safes are also most often fireproof, which means that your valuable stamp collection, it won't burn with the rest of your house. Wall safes need to be carefully considered before you invest in them. The ratings of wall safes are classes A, B, and C. A meaning it can endure an inferno of up to 2000 degree heat for hours. B class, only as much as 1850 degrees of heat for two hours. C means it can handle about 1000 degree heat for an hour. Of course, wall safes cost more the bigger, and the higher the class you want it to be. Also some brands will be ranked better, and will cost more. Do your research.

Wall safes work just like any other safe, they have number combinations, keys or an electronic lock. There are actually safes out there with fingerprint or handprint scanners. It is your choice what you would feel the most comfortable with. The average wall safe costs you 400 dollars. But they can be much more than that it just depends. If you care about your collection, the best option is a wall safe. Most hardened criminals, and geniuses won't be out for your coin or stamp collection, so the kind that will attack your home will be thwarted by plain and simple technology like safes, and locks on doors and windows.

Take care of yourself now, think of your needs, and prepare for the worst, and you may find, the best will happen, you won't ever be robbed. Burglars seem to know when you are prepared for them, and that is discouraging, unless you have millions of dollars behind flimsy doors- but you don't right?
